  • FURNITURE DESIGNER & PRODUCTION MANAGER

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • - Report directly to Director of Operations and Sales
  • - Work closely with the Creative Director to bring to life new furniture designs and unique creative projects, while understanding SGV aesthetic, references and design language/details
  • - Model and render new furniture concepts for SGV Collection as well as custom pieces for SGV’s interior projects
  • - Create all furniture production drawings
  • - Lead 3D printing for mock ups
  • - Maintain organization of all production materials internally, both physical and digital
  • - Constantly look to optimize the quality, production and details for all SGV furniture
  • - Place all Production Orders with vendors
  • - Manage production schedule to ensure all orders meet quality standards, specs and ship on time based on clients’ estimated completion dates. Work closely with the sales team to communicate needs or changes
  • - QC client orders prior to shipment both in-person and via vendor photos
  • - Support sales team with production issues and work to problem solve when needed.  Examples include: production difficulties due to the design or material, incorrect specs, damages during shipment or after delivery
  • - Step in to work directly with the clients as-needed to ensure most efficient resolution and best client experience
  • - Assist in managing all production vendor relationships. Ensure only the highest quality produced for SGV designs. 
  • - Assist in expanding production vendor relationships with current and new vendors to understand production capabilities and grow SGV’s capabilities


Additional Responsibilities:

  • - Help maintain Casa Valle’s exceptional display. Duties include: installation of lights and shelving, measurement and design of new concepts, painting, moving furniture between gallery and studio office
  • - Work closely with contract handyman to execute space needs for the studio and gallery
  • - Create furniture models for the SGV’s signature maquettes
  • - Use Adobe to help sales team create furniture sales materials, such as catalogs, tearsheets, images to spec


Role Requirements:

  • - 3+ years relevant working experience
  • - Must be local to NYC
  • - Technical skills to produce detailed production drawings, models and renderings for furniture pieces. Program used is Rhino 
  • - Deep knowledge of production and a variety of materials, including: hardwoods, finishes/stains, veneer, ceramics, metal work, upholstery
  • - Love of materials and production with the constant desire to learn more
  • - Experience with Adobe programs: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • - Willingness to work on a variety of projects to help the larger team excel and meet goals
  • - Highly organized and thrives in an open non-hierarchical process driven environment
  • - Passion for working in a super fast-paced, fun, and collaborative environment
  • - Excel at working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • - Highly organized with an attention to all details
  • - Consistent ability to move heavy objects
  • - Willingness to work offbeat hours for installations, shoots, etc


Compensation & Benefits: 

  • - Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000
