Greenwich Village Loft
The layers of a former factory are peeled back with urbane restraint, reaching back to its industrial past. Windows are thickened to twice their original depth; tiled 14-foot-long flooring boards echo the structural columns. Floating millwork in a shelving niche suggests exposed beams, an ode to Donald Judd’s minimal constructions. Doorways appear as impressions of doorways, as if stamped gently out of the wall.
